Our History
It all started with a family — and a nice place to raise one. When Ed Sherman came to the Pacific Northwest for work, he stayed to start his own business and raise his children. After working in the direct mail business for over 20 years in both Los Angeles and Portland, Ed launched DMS in 1982. DMS moved operations closer to Portland International Airport in 1997 to accommodate the growth of clients, employees, and equipment. Ed’s sons began working for DMS as teenagers, learning every aspect of the business, and assumed management in 2003. The Sherman legacy is the foundation on which DMS has progressed and grown.
DMS Now
Honoring our heritage, DMS still provides tried-and-true direct marketing and production services — but we’ve also embraced innovation through digital services and cutting-edge printing technology. DMS West is located near Portland International Airport, with nearby office in Milwaukie, OR. DMS East is located in Freedom, PA, and Johnson & Quin is in Niles, IL. Between the three locations, we employ more than 600 employees. With clients in 23 states, we mail more than 100 million pieces monthly. Because of our strong foundation, DMS continues to exceed expectations and has become the direct marketing leader we are today.
