Our History
It all started with a family…and a nice place to raise one. When Ed Sherman came to the Pacific Northwest for work, he stayed to start his own business and raise his children. After working in the direct mail business for over 20 years in both Los Angeles and Portland, Ed and Karen Sherman launched DMS in 1982. DMS moved operations closer to Portland International Airport in 1997 to accommodate growth of clients, employees and equipment. Ed’s sons began working for DMS as teenagers, learning every aspect of the business, and assumed management in 2003. As Chairman, Ed still serves in a management-consulting role to DMS.
DMS Now
Honoring our heritage, DMS still provides tried-and-true direct marketing and production services — but we’ve also embraced innovation through digital services and cutting-edge printing technology. DMS West is now housed in three buildings near the Portland International Airport, DMS East is in Freedom, PA, and we employ more than 600 employees between both locations. With clients in 23 states, we mail more than 100 million pieces monthly. Because of our strong foundation, DMS continues to exceed expectations and has become the direct marketing leader we are today.
